Like fresh roses and a new dawn, the New Year brings with it an air of clean, fresh beginnings.
New Year, new beginnings.
But that’s not all. Surely, all across the world, people are looking for ways to bring their “A game” into the New Year and the rest of their lives!
Certainly, that’s exciting! Especially if you know exactly what it will take to really level up for the New Year. Not to worry though, if you are unsure of what your level up moves can look like – this post will boost your confidence and give you some rock solid ideas.
Scan and Purge Your Wardrobe
You may be wondering what your clothes have to do with leveling up – a whole lot, that’s for sure. Now, hold your horses, before you go thinking this has to do with showing off or even feeling sorry for yourself.
Definitely the clothes you wear and feel comfortable in, can do a lot for your confidence. That’s surely an asset to take into the New Year with you – CONFIDENCE.
So then, go face your closet/drawers/wardrobe and be honest with yourself – which pieces of clothes no longer serve you?
Are you still keeping them out of the habit of hoarding? Will you continue to subconsciously wear 20% of your clothes 80% of the time?
Part ways with clothes that are fading in colour, stretched, too tight or torn, unless of course, they are essential to your daily scope of activities.
Otherwise, see them out. You can also donate those in good condition, that you may not need anymore. Alter clothes professionally that you risked wearing previously but know they didn’t look so tailored.
You see, the goal is not just to look good in your clothes for the New Year, but to feel good in them too. To exude confidence!
This goes for your shoes, purses/wallets and bags as well. Avoid taking up space with a bunch of things that aren’t even practical or adding to your confidence.
No more worrying about pulling down, pulling up or general discomfort in your clothes.
Get A Grip on Your Goals
In 12 powerful ways to become growth wise, you got some stellar tips on how to sync your goals with your growth. In terms of getting a grip on your goals for the New Year – a goal review will be necessary as well as a goal projection.
Here’s why:
As the law of reflection says, learning to pause allows growth to catch up with you. When you pause to reflect, you get a chance to review systems and strategies so you can see what worked and what didn’t.

In other words, leave financial foolishness behind. For the New Year, you want to take into consideration smart financial moves.

Celebrate All Your Wins – tiny and BIG
In essence, ALL your wins are to be acknowledged and celebrated. One major win is usually a result of smaller wins that have steered the process and led up to the grand moment.
For the New Year, Level Up your celebration game. Level Up your self acknowledgement. It builds your perseverance and your drive.
Many persons tend to be so critical of themselves that they seldom clap for their little victories. If you don’t, people will have a hard time acknowledging your small wins too. They’re watching your que.
Most importantly though, is not what they do – but what you do, especially as it relates to YOU and your wins.
Your next win is counting on you to celebrate it! You might be surprised to see how many wins you really have. Such a winner!
Build Your Vocabulary
Before you skip this one, and tell yourself you don’t fancy big words, Let me say this:
Did you know that many persons can’t describe their feelings adequately? Now, I don’t mean because they are shy or uncertain as to how they feel.
Simply, they do not know enough words nor the right words to do so!
It’s like going to the doctor to complain about a pain… the doctor may ask you to describe it. Is it a dull pain? Is it sharp? Is it intense or electric in sensation?
You see, none of those words were BIG WORDS! Certainly though, your doctor may be guided more closely to the diagnoses, through your ability to describe so well – kudus to your vocabulary. 🙂
Likewise, your communication will become more effective and you’ll have words to say what you mean. Resist the urge to use gestures to replace your words all the time. It may really become a habit that’s inappropriate in many settings.
Remember too, that it’s okay to pause mid-speech, to gather your thoughts instead of lacing your sentences with filler words (um, ahm, ugh). This may seem okay to you and you may not even notice!
However, others may become annoyed by it, or start counting the amount of times you said “um” instead of really listening to your message. Level Up and build your Vocabulary!
Exercise
When was the last time you did some intentional exercise? Or even figured out what kinds of exercise may be right for you?
Honestly, I am not knowledgeable about the kinds of exercises and which may be best for certain body types, ages, desires etc.
That’s why I am putting it in the forefront of your mind to do so – if you haven’t already. Speak to a trusted trainer or call a gym to query. The good thing is, you don’t even have to enroll in a gym to get your exercise goals growing!
Consider morning walks, yoga, stretches or even on the spot jogging.
Feel free to speak with your family doctor too, to get a good idea of how much exertion you might be able to tolerate, so as not to affect any other health concerns you may have.
Then, there are plenty of apps you can download or exercise tv channels you can tune into! Look out for the ones that suit your exercise goals and commit to exercising.
Most importantly, pace yourself. Start moderately and build the momentum. Make it something you look forward to. That way, you’ll stick with it.
Keep Hydrating – With Water
Water is a blessing! Many of us are privileged more than others to use it everyday. For such an essential commodity it is oftentimes overlooked.
For this New Year, consider these awesome benefits of water and remind yourself of them when you feel tempted to skip those crucial water intakes.
Who knows, you may finally get some of those headaches and skin blemishes under control!
Grow with Gratitude
A New Year is more than enough to give thanks for! That, and the many blessings that surround your life. If there is ever a night you have trouble sleeping, start counting your blessings and naming them one at a time!
Before you know it, you would have fallen a sleep and chances are you’ll have so much more in the morning!
Gratitude helps you focus on all you have, instead of dwelling on the things you do not have. That attitude of gratitude, gives you joy and attracts meaningful people, things and experiences into your life. Level up with an attitude of gratitude this New Year!
