When I first started my blog, I wasn’t thinking about blog growth. It wasn’t even Rooting For Growth yet. I just wanted a little corner of the internet to share my thoughts, lessons and stories. Fast forward to today, and not only has my blog grown in ways I never imagined, but I’ve also realized that anyone can start one. Even if it feels intimidating at first.
Here are three (3) ways my Jamaican blog has improved over the years and how you can use these lessons to kick-start your own blogging journey.
Expanding My Blogging Categories
When I began, my blog was…let’s just say, selectively focused. I stuck to personal and professional growth. However, over time, my life experiences pushed me to write more broadly on other topics that still incorporate and have at their very core, the notion of growth. I currently have categories such as Teacher Growth (reflecting lessons from a time I taught and grew as a teacher). similarly Law Growth (as I navigate my journey as a law student, legal intern etc.).
This variety, in my estimation, represents my evolution as someone who is committed to growing and unlocking daily the next levels of my growing potential. Every new category is a window for something I have learned, and it allows readers to find value no matter where they are on their own journey.
Steady Traffic From All Over the World
It’s not a stampede… yet! Still, every single day, in recent times someone, from somewhere in the world visits my blog. From Jamaica to Singapore, the United States to China. There’s always a little blip of activity on my analytics.

It’s proof that blog growth is about persistence, not perfection. Even small, steady numbers are a win because it means your voice is being heard beyond your immediate circle and the growth lessons intended to be impactful, are making the rounds. Bear in mind that this reflects active users at the time the analytics was checked.

Monetization and Future Potential
Monetization sounded like a dream when I first started blogging more professionally. Now, it is a reality. While it hasn’t replaced my full-time income (and has a long way to go before that happens), there is potential for growth and that is exciting. I still remember the very first time the site earned $1! How exciting that was!
Do something you love they say…and you will never work a day in your life. Something about writing, refining lessons and ideas into delightful reads, that captivates me. If blogging is something you are interested in, give it a go!

Closing Thoughts
Your blog doesn’t have to be perfect for you to start. In fact, mine clearly wasn’t and still isn’t. With time though, and consistency, and certainly a willingness to learn, blog growth happens.
If you have been thinking of starting your blog, this is your sign. Take the leap and watch it grow along with you.
