1. Record Your Affirmations (Audio)

This is a super clever, all in one hack! It touches on so many things worth enhancing. For starters, what’s more empowering than hearing your own voice reinforcing your values and affirmations?

Plus, you get to listen to it and change your tone or pitch to make it a perfect audio for constant replay! Imagine going about your day, popping your earbuds in, and boosting your confidence and poise with your own voice, saying your very own affirmations.

You can even record affirmations for different areas of your life and save them to a playlist. Now, you’ll know exactly where to go when you need inspiration, confidence and a reminder of your values and goals!

Why worry that you left your affirmations on the wall in your room, when you have them all recorded on your phone?!

2. Jotting

Jotting is just the shorter version of journaling. Both help you get your thoughts out on paper and aid in reflection, which is ideal for growth.

However, if you ever feel like skipping journaling one day, remember you can make jottings too! Its quicker, to the point and helps you feel less obligated to write full sentences when you’d rather not.

Those days come about for sure. Although journaling helps to calm and flex the mind, jottings can save you from leaving a whole page blank!

You’ll be glad to have something to refer back to – than nothing at all.

3. Read Book Reviews

Let’s face it, sometimes reading an entire book may seem daunting. Purchasing the book may be daunting too. Especially if you are unsure if the content is applicable to you.

When it comes on to growth enhancing books, I highly recommend investing in a good read. Choose to read reviews of the books first if you want a breakdown of what it entails before securing the purchase.

To add, if you are on a budget and not able to purchase, reviews can be a great help as some are to the point and extract salient points from the actual book.

Certainly, book reviews won’t ever match up to the value of reading the actual book for yourself. However, they help to inform you just the same and you can grow from the value shared.

4. Join the 8am Club

No, no, no. This isn’t the wake up call. Hopefully, you start your days much earlier than that!

The 8am Club is a little experiment I’ve carried out on several occasions, and it works wonders all the time!

So what exactly is it?

It’s the ideal time (for me at least) to send emails, call offices or business places etc. if you want speedy results! At this time of the morning, persons are settling in for work, checking their emails, and ready to start their days on a productive note.

The rush of the day hasn’t quite engulfed them yet, and you are at the top of their lists!

Additionally, if you are heading out to a place where you may encounter many other people and possibly lines or number systems, it’s best to get there by 8am.

Chances are, others are not willing to head out so early and may get caught up in the rush or even traffic!

Not you though, your emails, calls, visits at 8am will have you getting through in no time!

PS: You can schedule your emails for 8am the evening before! By 8am the next day, it will be sent automatically.

5. Finding Your Success Zone with a little help

Sometimes, the people who are closest to you, may know a side of you that you don’t know so well. They may also be able to acknowledge some of the strengths you downplay.

If you confide in these people ask them to honestly point out your strengths and weaknesses. You may be amazed they are so attentive to things you may have overlooked.

Use these observations coupled with your own, to get a better insight of the things that may propel you further to your success zone.

It may take a lifetime for you to fully understand yourself! Take bits and pieces of this jigsaw puzzle form your confidants.

6. Take Rest instead of Get Rest

Undoubtedly, your body needs rest to grow and glow.

Unfortunately, rest is something many take for granted. Some believe they are too busy running errands or working or have too many commitments to take some time to rest.

If that sounds like you, then you are running the risk of wearing out yourself without even knowing it.

Taking time to rest means taking control of your time and the value of your well-being. Waiting around until you get some rest is relinquishing your power to the external forces already controlling your time and well-being.

The moment you start prioritizing your rest, is the moment you give yourself time and permission to recuperate and grow.

If you don’t control your rest, your body and growth are in trouble.

7. Make Lists

There’s so much joy in crossing off items on a list that you have accomplished. You should get that feeling more often!

To add, making lists help you to remember things you would have otherwise forget. Not only make the list, but take it around with you.

The good thing is, there are plenty apps that allow you to do this – and you get to take it along with you because its on your phone.

If you prefer a physical list, then a notepad or even a handy ‘to-do-list’ or journal may help.

No more forgetting important tasks or appointments. No more overwhelming your mind with things to remember. Make your lists and keep them handy.

You’ll get more done (or those things you prioritize) as you look forward to crossing off items you have achieved.

8. Self Love and Care

It can not be overemphasized, how important it is to love and take care of yourself.

The world is like a theatre, and you – its actor. You play the role of friend, career woman/man, sibling, parent, partner, confidant, you sit on boards and committees, you care for others – and sometimes, you neglect yourself in the process.

You may not feel awful about it, considering you do so well with your other roles. However, its only a matter of time before that self neglect start showing up and taking a toll on you.

A part of growth includes valuing yourself and believing that you are worthy and deserving of your goals and growth. What better way to that than to love and care for yourself?

The moment you start prioritizing self love and care – many other things will align. Chances are, you’ll even become aware of the spaces and people who are opposed to this – and you’ll be able to steer clear of them.

9. Normalize Trade – Offs

Remember how we talked about trade-offs here?

That’s one sure way of enhancing your growth.

Ultimately, you let go off something that’s hindering your growth and go towards something else that will enhance it.

The drawback is this: trade-offs are usually hard to do, because comfort zones are not easily left.

Once you make it a habit to seek growing opportunities, you’ll start shedding the skin of a timid grower, afraid to leave the harbour.

10. The Gift of Gratitude

Who doesn’t like a good gift?

Give yourself the gift of gratitude daily!

Remember:

Its not happy people who are grateful. Its grateful people who are happy!

Certainly, you won’t be positive and in high spirits all the time. Nonetheless acknowledging the things you are grateful for can give you a bit more courage to grow, care how slow and steady.

This is one of the fastest ways to turn a bad situation around, its an effective way too.
